TODO CUESTA · I — HUNGER

TODO CUESTA

Everything Costs Something

THE MEANING

The thesis statement.

The title track opens the album with a declaration, not a question. TODO CUESTA is Spanish for "Everything Costs Something" — and Skir713 means it literally. Not as a motivational phrase. As a warning.

The song maps the cost of ambition before the money arrives. What you give up before anyone is watching. The relationships you strain. The sleep you lose. The version of yourself you leave behind.

By the end of the track, the thesis is set: nothing in this album is free. Every win has a receipt.

LYRICS

Verse 1

Todo cuesta, nada es gratis en la vida

Every move I make, I'm paying for it twice

713 in my blood, Houston in my chest

Came up from the bottom, never had a net

Chorus

Todo cuesta — everything costs something

Todo cuesta — you pay it or you don't move

Todo cuesta — the price is always running

Todo cuesta — that's the only truth

Verse 2

Summerall on my back before the check

Loyalty ain't cheap, I know what it's worth

Spent my twenties paying debts I didn't make

Now I'm cashing out, collecting what I earned

Bridge

They said the cost was too high

I said name your price

They said the road was too long

I said I'll walk it twice

LINE NOTES

"Todo cuesta, nada es gratis en la vida"

"Everything costs, nothing is free in life" — the album's core thesis delivered in Spanish first, then unpacked in English across the rest of the record.

"713 in my blood, Houston in my chest"

The area code as identity marker. 713 is the original Houston area code, a symbol of the city's pre-expansion era and the communities that built it.

"Summerall on my back before the check"

A direct reference to Summerall Capital — the label that believed in the project before commercial validation. Loyalty acknowledged publicly.

TODO CUESTA · II — PRICE

PRICE OF ENTRY

THE MEANING

When money arrives, so does the bill.

PRICE OF ENTRY is the moment the first real money lands — and the immediate realization that it changes everything around you. Not just your circumstances. The people.

The song documents the specific disorientation of early success: suddenly everyone has an opinion, a need, a claim. The price of entry into a bigger life turns out to be paid in trust, not dollars.

Skir713 doesn't romanticize the arrival of money. He interrogates it. The chorus is a question, not a celebration.

LYRICS

Verse 1

First check hit different, thought I was free

Didn't read the fine print, didn't see the fee

New faces at the table, old ones at the door

Thought I was gaining, I was losing more

Chorus

What's the price of entry?

What do you give to get in?

What's the price of entry?

Is it worth it in the end?

Verse 2

The door opened but the cost was on the other side

Paid in trust, not dollars — that's the harder ride

Everybody's got a claim when the numbers climb

Everybody's got a reason, everybody's got a line

LINE NOTES

"The door opened but the cost was on the other side"

The central image of the song — entry into success is free; the price is revealed only after you're already inside.

"New faces at the table, old ones at the door"

A recurring motif across the album: success as a filter. The people who show up when money arrives versus the ones who were there before.

TODO CUESTA · IV — BLOOD

BLOOD MONEY

THE MEANING

What you owe the people who were there first.

BLOOD MONEY is the most personal track on TODO CUESTA. It's about family — specifically, the debt you carry to the people who were there before the music, before the money, before any of it mattered to anyone else.

The title is deliberate. "Blood money" typically means money paid in exchange for a life. Here it means the opposite: money earned in exchange for time away from the people whose blood you share. The cost is measured in missed moments, not dollars.

The song doesn't resolve cleanly. There's no redemption arc. Just an honest accounting of what was spent and what can't be bought back.

LYRICS

Verse 1

Mama didn't raise me to be gone this long

Every dollar I made, I was moving on

Missed the birthdays, missed the calls, missed the years

Thought I was building something, didn't see the tears

Chorus

Blood money — I paid it, but I'm still in debt

Blood money — some things you can't collect

Blood money — the price was never just the check

Blood money — that's the one I can't forget

Verse 2

They say money can't buy time, I know that now

Tried to make it up in dollars, didn't know how

Family at the table but I'm somewhere else

Chasing something bigger, losing something else

LINE NOTES

"Mama didn't raise me to be gone this long"

The most direct line on the album. No metaphor, no armor — just the plain truth of what the pursuit cost in terms of presence.

"Blood money — I paid it, but I'm still in debt"

The paradox at the heart of the song: you can pay the financial debt but the emotional debt compounds. Success doesn't settle the account.

PAIN MADE ME · Title Track

PAIN MADE ME

THE MEANING

What you become after the cost is paid.

The title track of the second album is a reckoning. If TODO CUESTA asked what everything costs, PAIN MADE ME answers what the payment produced. Not success. Not peace. A person.

The song is structured as a direct address — Skir713 speaking to himself, or to whoever is listening closely enough to hear the difference. The bravado is present but it's load-bearing, not decorative. It's holding something up.

Pitchfork noted that this is where the armor starts to fray. The song earns that reading. By the final verse, the persona and the person are the same thing.

LYRICS

Verse 1

Luxury on the outside, war on the inside

Nobody sees the version of you that almost didn't make it

Paid the price, got the prize, still don't feel it

Winning looks different when you're the one who had to steal it

Chorus

Pain made me — didn't break me, that's the difference

Pain made me — everything I am came from the distance

Pain made me — couldn't buy it, couldn't fake it

Pain made me — had to live it just to make it

Verse 2

Nobody sees the version of you that almost didn't make it

The one who sat in silence, couldn't take it

I built the armor piece by piece, year by year

Now I wear it like a crown, but I know what it cost to get here

Outro

Pain made me.

That's all.

Pain made me.

LINE NOTES

"Pain made me, didn't break me — that's the difference"

The thesis of the second album in a single line. The distinction between being shaped by pain and being destroyed by it is the entire emotional argument of the record.

"Luxury on the outside, war on the inside"

Pitchfork's observation about the album's visual language — conspicuously expensive — meets its emotional premise here. The gap between what's visible and what's real.

"Nobody sees the version of you that almost didn't make it"

The most vulnerable line on the album. The private self versus the public one — the cost of maintaining the distance between them.
